Helena's holiday with a gaggle of girlfriends is rudely interrupted by a group of bandits in this patchy pre-golden age pornochanchada. They suggest she and a companion might like to dance a striptease on the table - at gunpoint! Harsh, but sort of karma really because Helena pulled much the same stunt herself as a bandit in As Cangaceiras Eróticas (1974). Events dictate that we have to leave the pair at a rather tense moment.
Sadly there is very little nudity in this coarse comedy. The second clip is an obese lesbian sleepwalking scene. Luckily Helena (who sleeps topless, without any blankets) sees the funny side - this woman has more grace than I've ever given her credit for.
Later the girls turn the tables on the bandits and set up as outlaws on their own with captured guns. Combat training is rigorous: cue half a dozen fit birds in tight leather knickers rolling in the dirt like the Batley Townswomen's Guild. But for a delightful change see a nude tableau on the beach at sunset filed under the name of Aldine Muller.

Disjointed gangster trash set in the wilds of Brazil. Helena (at her loveliest) celebrates her engagement by stripping off and frolicking naked under a jungle waterfall. It's all her fiancé can do to stop the top of his head popping off, but eventually he joins her for a shy hug.
But carefree Helena doesn't realise on what thin ice she's skating, because around here dragging naked girls out of rivers and abusing them is something of a cottage industry. Take this grizzled Irish bookie type who confiscates those three young lasses' bikinis at gunpoint for instance. He only left them crouched shivering by the riverbank this time but it could have been so much worse. How Helena came to be mixed up with these three I don't know, but as she stammers out her explanations at least she can be thankful her plans for her forthcoming marriage are still intact.
Leaving the church on her wedding day Helena's party is ambushed. A few of her well-placed roundhouse kicks should have sorted that out if only a wedding dress wasn't quite so constraining. It's the Irish bookie's gang out to drag Helena back to his fazenda and force her to be his wife. Her new husband is the one to sort this out of course, and a wet dream of his nude bride dancing under the waterfall guilt-trips him into action. Hubby makes a total hash of it, but never mind, after endless brawling and shooting and even more brawling it's Helena who wins the day with a brutal burst of machine gun fire. And they lived happily ever after, if their body language after the killing is anything to go by.

Heartthrob David Cardoso directs himself in the role of a pilot and occasional bus driver in this early pornochanchada. Today he's in charge of a bus full of women, escorting them safely through some of the less tamed provinces of Brazil. A typical male wish-fulfillment fantasy you might think, but go back to the title again. At first I thought it was only going to mean twelve, but actually it's nineteen sexually mature females he's got in hand here! With a logistical nightmare like that a cynic might say: 'Wish fulfillment? I wish I wasn't driving this bus you mean!'
To help keep order a nun in the shape of Patricia Scalvi is on board, looking sumptuous in her habit and glasses. She's actually the first 'bird' Cardoso chats up, and no wonder. That girl really did miss her vocation.
Still, it's a full-time job to keep on top of things. Stop by the water hole to go fishing for five minutes and suddenly it's bikinis everywhere! It's hard for the viewer to see much when this sort of thing happens to be honest, let alone identify the actresses, but I reckon Aldine 'ringleader' Muller was behind a lot of the skinny-dipping high jinks; she usually is.
In this scene Cardoso is shaving beside his bus when Helena flounces past. She wants to play topless 'chase me' through the hay meadows, and this early in the morning too. Well our hero doesn't have much choice - he looks mesmerised to the point of unhealthiness in fact. Were we talking about male wish-fulfillment fantasies? Helena Ramos, outdoors, up against a tree: how's about that one?

If you invite big-haired glamourpuss Helena Ramos back to your place to play at bubble baths and blind man's buff, and she actually says yes, then I suspect one of two things. You're either a favourite uncle she's especially eager to condescend to and indulge, or very rich. I reckon the second case holds here. Though that callow chap does soap Helena's back with the practised air of an older and wiser relative, the whole set-up here looks over-moneyed and unwholesome. You expect it to end badly, with the whole tower block going up in flames or something. Which indeed it does, for this early Jean Garret pornochanchada is somewhat tastelessly (if undeniably stylishly) inspired by the notorious Joelma building disaster in 'seventies São Paolo.
In the first clip Helena is enjoying her bubble bath whilst in the adjoining suite things are getting much more raunchy. That South Seas lovely even slips her knickers right off - then spends the rest of the scene regretting it, dancing right up against that other girl so no one can see.
Things are going downhill in the second clip. The younger male host suggests a game of blind man's buff - in only their pants! 'You can but I'm not,' protests Helena stubbornly, tugging her towel more tightly around her chest, 'it's childish!'. Somehow she still manages to lose though - and let's a boob slip too!

A somewhat manic and incredibly noisy pornochanchada in which a naïve village lad is taken on as a dogsbody at the country retreat of a well-to-do family. Unfortunately he suffers chronically from an embarrassing condition common at his age: unwanted physical arousal which his creditable personal endowment makes increasingly difficult to hide.
The house being stuffed full of sexually provocative young women obviously doesn't help. Today is an exception though: the place is packed to overflowing with sexually provocative young women to the point that they are spilling all over the lawn. To be precise, today is the day of the garden party held in aid of the local reformatory attended by Frau Gelli herself.
Our man is to act as waiter, a nightmare scenario! He comes up with an ingenious (not to say humorously amusing) solution: wearing a suit of armour. What lady would suspect a man of wearing a suit of armour just to hide an erection? Needless to say he has swapped a situation of potential social shaming for one of imminent personal injury.
Helena to the rescue! She has spent the film so far gazing out of windows at the romantic comings and goings of other couples, and now with a captive audience it's her turn. She is the first woman to provoke an appropriate sexual response from this unsophisticated young man. Strangely he gags her first though - perhaps to stop her drowning out the background music? Whatever, it's an unexpectedly haunting erotic image.

A dilemma for Helena in this piece of Brazilian trash. Everyone knows that if you're at a party that's a bit on the wild side, it's when the dwarfs are finally wheeled out that it's time to make your excuses and leave. But what if you turn up at a 'do' to find the host is in fact, himself, a dwarf? You can't leave him hanging on the doorstep can you? Now there's something they didn't teach her at finishing school.
It helps that Helena is a professional stripper and used to dealing with this class of folk. So basically she decides to just get on with it. The invitation is delivered by the dwarf's minder, an outwardly presentable but inwardly rather sorry sort who must have taken a wrong turning in life somewhere. He is often the butt of his employer's little jokes.
Dragged out of bed, Helena takes a shower wearing pig tails. These are often a warning sign in a grown woman, and together with the overly-thorough please-her-mother way she soaps herself could indicate the sort of dangerous psychosis associated with arrested emotional development. Or maybe the director's judgement is just a bit off (he thinks there's not enough nudity in a shower scene so needs to inter-cut it with a stage striptease).
Arrived at the party it turns out there's just the three of them there, so the twisted little mind games can start at once. Frustrated 'minder' chap is blindfolded as Helena is ordered to strip, while the host does everything to live down to the stereotype of the evil dwarf. Like taking 'important' phone calls when everyone else is trying to enjoy themselves (don't you loathe people who do that?) By the end of this scene it's hard to tell who's dashing about in their pants squealing and who's fleeing the room half-naked screaming.
Later on Helena is in her swimsuit, and you might be wondering who's that polite well-spoken young man (of diminished stature) she's chatting to? What a difference a bit of attitude adjustment can make eh?! It doesn't last long though. Minder chappie is starting to get creepy too, and with the help of a Doberman chases Helena into the swimming pool while the dwarf stands by cackling like Michael Barrymore. Happily Helena survives her further misadventures, including brief master/slave games with a torch, to which she finally abandons herself with relief.

Helena is at her prettiest and most approachable for this pornochanchada set in an exclusive tropical beach resort. She has had the misfortune to be bitten by an aphrodisiac insect, and in a couple of brief clips is now struggling to attract the sort of male attention she so clearly deserves.

Here we see Helena at her most un-glam, being seduced by an older and more "rugged" woman into a lesbian affair. The first clip has the pair on a deserted beach. Helena is horsing around in a bikini, daring herself to take her top off. Her girlfriend is nodding and smiling, egging her on. I'd have done exactly the same in her position. On second thoughts no I wouldn't, I'd have made encouraging hand gestures as well. Anyway, naughty Helena ends up swimming completely in the nude. Ooohh!
In the second clip Helena is at the beach again when she encounters a rather intimidating man; he reminds me of a gruffer version of Jack Duckworth from Coronation Street. This oaf tries to seduce our heroine, much against her wishes. The guy simply has no technique. Following on from the last clip, the final one has Helena being comforted in the shower by her girlfriend. But she must have said the wrong thing as she ends up being used as a human punchbag for the second time in one day.

Helena wears glasses again in this role as an inmate of a Brazilian brothel. They are 'dress-down' glasses which don't do much for her to be honest, but that seems to be the point. She plays a devoutly religious woman, so I was shocked when I realised she did the opening scene without any pants on. One client, an earnest and equally religious young man, seems made for Helena. What with her bell-ringing fetish and that...

A domestic love scene starring Helena. She's a demanding wife, but not unfairly so, and feels let down when her dentist husband is tired after work. Little does she know what he's been up to with Aldine Muller at the surgery.
So the man performs as demanded. Helena has been married long enough not to be alarmed by a little buggery now and then, and a stray smirk gives away her realisation it's silly to literally bite the pillow like that.

Shy, bespectacled TV actress Helena has become so highly-strung and withdrawn she is practically frigid. Her therapist (Monique Lafond) suggests "photo therapy". Having tacky nude snaps taken will help apparently. How does this work then? She sends them in to Readers Wives magazine? And they send her twenty-five quid? And she spends it on gin? It's a possibility I suppose.

A Brazilian send-up of one of those groups-of-women-held-in-a-remote-house-at-gunpoint flicks. Helena is glammed-down in this role, even to the extent of wearing dungarees (albeit of a fashionable cut). This suits me down to the ground. Here Helena volunteers to be next to be raped. Which she is, technically at least, to daftly inappropriate classical music. Puts one in mind of Freda's A doppia faccia, especially if you look back to the burning car in the titles. In the short second clip she is naked in the bathroom with Neide Ribeiro. Wasted opportunity - they don't even kiss.

Brazilian melodrama about heartthrob David Cardoso taking his crippled bride back to a new life down on the fazenda. The lovely young creature will be attended by a full-time nurse, Helena of course, who's a real knockout in her starched white uniform; she's just so authentically common - 'dead common' I'd even go so far as to say. Notice Cardoso's hesitation as he hands over the single red rose in the introduction, a nice little touch.
This is an elegantly produced film but it doesn't just throw away all its trump cards, it grinds them into the ground with its heel. Sex on horseback? Nah, let's be sensible for once, after all it is our wedding day. Sex in a wheelchair? Let me help you out of that nasty metal contraption, eurghh! Sex on an aeroplane wing? Well maybe just this once (but who on earth has a kink like that?).
It's an aching disappointment yet no surprise then that the first thing Helena does is put away her uniform and glam herself up till she looks like a drag queen. Cardoso visits her in her room in this clip. We join him just as he's about to turn the light out so Helena can peel off her lingerie. Luckily she has the presence of mind to stop him in time - that really would have set the seal on disaster! So we get a rather coy love scene, restrained but elegant, with Fraga-influenced comic formality and obsessiveness.

Classic late period pornochanchada co-starring Helena with Vanessa Alves, written by Ody Fraga, photographed by Cláudio Portioli and directed by John Doo. This creative dream-team doesn't let us down, though by now the genre label has become a misnomer. Rather than mindless comedies they made absurdist over-mannered melodramas which are not so much a series of jokes, rather the whole style and content is the joke. Albeit one which can be difficult for the outsider to tune in to.
This is a send-up of the formulaic romantic plots of the telenovela genre. New mother Vanessa is helped by a friendly transvestite to persuade Doctor Helena to operate to save her son, the money to come from posing naked for middle-aged adolescent painter André Loureiro. The complication is that the doctor is maître's lover. A melancholy state of affairs for Helena, the heroine of the piece having to come to terms with being sidelined by younger muse Vanessa.
These clips show Helena and the artist in the bedroom and beside the pool. The first one is preceded by a brief vignette which, as well as removing any unwanted tension over the eventual success of the little boy's operation, lets us see what Helena looks like in surgical scrubs.
