Colourful late-Soviet comedy about espionage in a Black Sea naval base circa 1930. We join the action on a day of celebration, probably Victory Day or something, marked by some splendid parades and massed outdoor swimming galas, which don't worry I have included in the clip.

Meanwhile some sad old geezer is shut indoors in bed with a girl. As Alan would say, 'You're wasting your life'. By the looks of it the guy in the trenchcoat who kicked down the door had some even sharper words to say; even his body language is enough to turn the air blue. Young tart Larisa manages to scrape through with her dignity just about intact.

Satirical drama from the end of the Soviet era using a theatre as a microcosm for society. There is a group shower scene in it, which I seldom say no to, especially if it involves actresses normally overlooked for such exposure due to concerns about age, or weight.

Larisa dominates as the female cast members air their personal and professional differences; she's the sort who makes herself unpopular with her comrades by walking around naked with no attempt to cover up. Viewers at home might be more forgiving though. Of the other girls, Mariya Zubareva is the one who wouldn't spoil her hair for anything less than a Timotei commercial, and wouldn't slip her towel off 'even if you paid me'. Tatyana Kravchenko is a hefty no-nonsense lady; she's got a healthy pair of baps so what does she care if they bounce into shot occasionally? Finally there's Nina Shatskaya, some fifty years old; perhaps she'd rather not have shown a nipple, but then again who knows?
